What is Anchor Point Training?

Anchor Point Training (APT) is a revolutionary form of suspension training that utilizes your own body weight as resistance. This innovative approach to fitness is particularly well-suited for older adults, as it is highly scalable and can be adapted to various fitness levels. APT offers a full-body workout that not only builds lean, toned muscles but also strengthens and firms the core muscles, which are crucial for maintaining proper posture, preventing injuries, and alleviating lower back pain.

The Benefits of Anchor Point Training

1. Cardiovascular Health and Fat Burning

APT is an aerobic exercise that provides a safe and effective way to burn fat and improve cardiovascular health. By engaging multiple muscle groups simultaneously, APT elevates your heart rate, promoting a more efficient calorie burn and enhancing overall fitness.

2. Improved Flexibility and Range of Motion

One of the key advantages of APT is its ability to enhance flexibility and enable a full range of motion without pain, stiffness, or restriction. This is particularly beneficial for older adults who may experience limitations in their mobility due to age-related factors or previous injuries.

3. Functional Movement Training

APT incorporates functional movements that mimic everyday tasks, such as pushing, pulling, squatting, and lunging. While some older adults may feel apprehensive about performing certain exercises like backward lunges, APT’s suspension system provides support and stability, allowing you to safely and easily execute these movements and reap the benefits of improved functional fitness and confidence.

4. Balance, Strength, Agility, and Coordination

APT is a comprehensive training method that simultaneously targets balance, strength, agility, and coordination. By challenging your body in multiple planes of motion, APT helps you develop a well-rounded fitness foundation, enhancing your overall physical capabilities and reducing the risk of falls or injuries.

The Convenience of Anchor Point Training

One of the most appealing aspects of APT is its time-efficiency. You can achieve a complete and effective workout in as little as 20 minutes, making it an ideal choice for those with busy schedules. Additionally, APT is designed to be enjoyable, ensuring that you not only reach your health and fitness goals but also have fun in the process.

As a retired nurse, I feel it’s even more important to focus on keeping healthy. I have always been committed to lots of exorcise. But, that wasn’t enough. Over a decade ago I started doing yoga. And it is helpful. But, I like trying new things. So, I tried Tai Chi, even though I really didn’t think it would add value. I was very wrong. Going forward, I will always make Tai Chi part of my routine. It helps me focus on positivity, mind/body awareness, balance, relaxation, centeredness, and a connection to nature and my spirituality. One thing I don’t do well is slow down. But, Tai Chi helps me do this while I am moving my body. And Patti Craig is the best instructor!! If you want to take a risk and try a Tai Chi class, you need to go to her class!

Patti Craig is a wonderful fitness instructor for anyone aged 50+. She has a lovely personality, and is very knowledgeable in her field - a true professional in her instruction. I enjoy her Tai Chi classes, and I joined her Anchor Training group. She also offers very affordable 1 on 1. I attend her 2 Tai Chi classes, and take 2 Anchor Training sessions weekly…...I highly recommend them. After each class, I feel energized, calm, relaxed and….great about myself! Patti challenges you, she encourages you, and she is very positive during her teaching instruction. She is a great motivator and guides you seamlessly through the Anchor Training exercise routine. Her graceful moves, and her gentle soothing voice are key, to the slow and peaceful Tai Chi movements. I recommend Patti to everyone and anyone who is looking for a healthier lifestyle. She is a lovely individual, who makes you feel comfortable and at ease. Regardless of your level of fitness, Patti will make adjustments to suit what is best for you. You will feel healthier of heart, of mind and of body…… I am grateful to Patti and blessed to have met her.

Patti's Tai Chi class is a great way to spend an hour! Friendly, fun and welcoming! Patti is an easy-going, effective leader, with the perfect energy for Tai Chi! For me, Tai Chi is about learning to be aware of my body in a way I have not been before. Shifting my weight with intention and mindfulness, leading from my core, moving slowly as if in water, balance, meditation in motion, and so much more. And the Qigong that Patti throws in are subtle movements that vitalize me!

I was looking for a low impact exercise that would be okay for my back. Then I met Patti Craig. She introduced me to Tai Chi. I found it tobe fascinating, I wanted to know more and take here class. I look forward to every class. When I have to miss one, I'm disappointed. My balance has improved, and my legs and core are stronger. My arms have some definition to them. It's not only been good for me physically but also spiritually. I've learned to just stop and breathe.

I am now more willing for growth and change towards positivity. Although it was hard before this week in particular was less anxious to adapt for myself. I have tried the same goals multiple times before but this time it was much easier and I enjoyed it for a change. My blood pressure went down, I had a calmer house and my efficiency improved. Overall a great week.
She was really empathetic and gave me encouragement and ideas for small changes.

I appreciate the program and the accountability. I couldn't ask for more really.
The check-in every morning was very nice and she was supportive when I missed a small habit on Wednesday.
If I keep at it, I can definitely see some big changes in the future.
